Lobster Supper - Now Saturday, Jan. 3rd

Due to the impending bad weather, the Lobster Supper sponsored by the North Shore Fire Department and scheduled for Jan 1, has been postponed until Saturday, Jan 3. Takeout is at 4:30; Bar starts at 5:30 and the eat-in supper is from 6pm-8pm.
Please pass this around to all who might have tickets.




 Municipal Councillor District 4
- Nominations & Election



Nominations for District 4 are being accepted for the office of councillor in District 4 in the Municipality of the County of Victoria for which a by-election will be held on the 31st day of January 2009. District 4 is composed of the following communities from exit 10 on TCH at Big Hill/Port Bevis to the top of Kelly's Mountain including Big Harbour, south Haven, North Gut, South Gut, St. Ann's, Goose Cove, North River, Tarbot, Tarbotvale, Englishtown, Jersey Cove, River Bennett, and from Indian Brook to foot of Cape Smokey. 

The last day to file nomination papers is Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 between the hours of 9:00 am. and 5:00 pm., or by appointment only during normal office hours between 8:300 am. - 12:00 pm. and 1:00 pm. - 4:30 pm. in the two week preceding Nomination Day ( Tuesday, Dec. 23rd to Monday, January 5th, 2009 excluding holidays.

A $200.00 deposit is required in the form of cash, money order or certified cheque. This deposit must accompany the nomination papers. also please take notice that all outstanding property taxes owed to the Municipality of the County of Victoria must be paid in full on or before Nomination Day. To be eligible to run for council a person must be a) Canadian citizen, b) the age of eighteen years old, and c) a resident of the Municipality for six months prior to election day.

Take time to visit their website and learn more about energy saving tips on heating, wood heating, water heating, lighting, refrigeration, cooking, dish washing, clothes washing and drying, electronics, and driving. The website also has a section for consumers information on programs, rebates and more. 

Central has a great flyer out (download pdf) on understanding what is available in federal and provincial grants for energy efficency upgrades to your house. If you purchase the supplies from their store they will refund the $150.00 fee you pay to have your house inspected.
